Last year, the Mothers' Aid helped around 2,500 women, including running a home for expectant mothers. Copenhagen has 55 health visitors who travel around and visit newborns under the age of 1. She checks for illnesses and helps to get breastfeeding started. Approximately 10,000 children are born in Copenhagen each year. In addition, Copenhagen has 25 childcare centres spread across the city. 150 nurseries, asylums and kindergartens are also spread across the capital.
