Description: Depiction of what the public sector does for infants and preschool children. One of the aims of the early intervention is to keep infant mortality down. Last year, the Mothers' Aid helped around 2,500 women, including running a home for expectant mothers. Copenhagen has 55 health visitors who travel around and visit newborns under the age of 1. She checks for illnesses and helps to get breastfeeding started. Approximately 10,000 children are born in Copenhagen each year. In addition, Copenhagen has 25 childcare centres spread across the city. 150 nurseries, asylums and kindergartens are also spread across the capital.

Description: Photographer Jørgen Gregersen visits author and playwright Carl Erik Soya and his family in Kgs. Lyngby. The film is in two parts. The first part was filmed in the summer of 1941. Here Soya is seen in the garden with his wife and youngest daughter, Maj. Soya's two other children, William and Hyben, are also seen. The second part was filmed in the summer of 1944. Here the contrast is shown between a war-torn Denmark during the occupation and the idyllic family life in the garden of the Soya family, where they enjoy the warmth. The summer also offers a visit to the author's colleague Cai M. Woel and a trip to Dyrehavsbakken.

Description: The colony Nordstrand is located on the Kattegat between Rørvig and Nykøbing Sjælland. In the early 1900s, the Frederiksberg Municipal Teachers' Association began sending children to the countryside, and in 1905 the municipal teachers' association established the first holiday colony. The children were to have fresh sea air, sun and plenty of food. Boys and girls were sent to the colony separately. The holiday colonies were a reflection of the 1900s' growing focus on children's health and well-being. Frederiksberg Municipality still sends children to Nordstrand every year.

On the film's audio side, old Gudhjem residents talk about the time.
