Conception, toddlerhood, the awkward growing pains of adolescence, the incredibly complex workings of the brain (which burns up more energy than any other part of the human body, viewers of daytime TV included, apparently) and finally death are vividly depicted and explained.

They have a magnificent diving tower: boys dive from a bridge, play and hang under the bridge, children get dressed. Shot put: boys compete in a shot put competition (Switzerland). Dikkie tries to catch fish: a boy tries to catch fish by hand. Ice rink in Bloemendaal 1931: old and young skate, including in a train and swaying, a woman does a pirouette and falls. An unusual dancer in an unusual setting, Cergnat, Switzerland 1927: a girl dances on a carpet while other children watch and applaud. The Doorwerd wave pool near Arnhem 1935. The pool empty: shots of an empty pool. Full: a swimming pool filled with water and visitors. The first waves: waves in the pool with swimmers and bathers, people holding on to ropes stretched across the pool. Make yourself comfortable: a boy doing exercises with a physiotherapist. Triplets in the stadium: a cycling race with three-person bicycles in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam.

Description: "The only thing I always remember from my childhood was the never ending physical cruelty and every single day drunken mother. And also how she touched me, when I was bathing. It was the worst period of my life ever, and everything coming after that was actually only better," this has been said today by thirty years old Filip Zahradil, who was released from prison in February 2009 after serving a ten year sentence. He actually killed his mother during a fight with her when he was 18 years old. Was it murder, self-defense or just a brute attack? Was a 10 year sentence behind bars rightful punishment for a man who suffered so much through his entire childhood? This documentary is Filip's personal testament about how much could be a person psychologically scared by unhappy childhood and murder of his own mother that followed all that. After his release Filip tried to find a happy relationship and get on with his life, find a decent job and normal living. But it is impossible to forget his past. It does not forget him and memories are still coming back to haunt him.

Ice hockey rink in Haarlem, 19..: men's ice hockey game with an audience. A jump over 10 boys: a man dives over a row of ten boys after a jump from a springboard, landing on a cushion. Bleeding from the ulnar artery (high sling): applying a bandage and sling to a man. When Amsterdam's youth are hot: children playing in a shallow pool, children on a sandy beach near a residential area, a small bridge over the water, children eating ice cream.
