Description: The Pherwani family belongs to the middle class. They live in a block of flats in the northern part of Bombay. There are four children, and the mother is a stay-at-home mom. The father has a good school education and a trusted position as a foreman in a large industrial company, so the children - even the girls - can afford a good schooling. This family has security, housing and knowledge unlike the vast majority of Bombay residents. The film belongs together with two other films from India, 'The Village - about a casteless society' and 'The Farmer - about a collective family in the countryside'.
