And then there is also a bedtime story to be heard before it is time to sleep after a long and good day.

Description: The documentary contains exclusively original footage by amateur filmmaker Elisabeth Wilms from the years 1945-1948 and shows (using examples from Dortmund) the living conditions in a city destroyed by the Second World War: living in bombed-out houses, in cellars and emergency shelters, completely inadequate supplies of food, fuel, clothing and general consumer goods, the consequences of the emergency situation for people's state of health, chaotic traffic conditions, self-help and support from foreign charitable organizations, clean-up and reconstruction work.
