Description: The film tells the life story of Myriam. She is 30 years old and lives with her three small children in a slum on the outskirts of Bogotá. Her husband has left her, but she doesn't let that get her down. In flashbacks - intercut with acted scenes - the film tells how Myriam, as a little girl, was cured of the 'evil eye' she was said to have. The film memorably documents how Myriam overcomes the bitterness that comes from poverty, difficult living conditions and a loveless childhood. Unlike her own mother, who was consumed by concern for the family's material needs, Myriam exudes strength and confidence that benefits both her children and the people in the neighborhood.
