Description: The children are at the center of this mosaic of moving images from large and small events in Denmark over 100 years. This section is about the period 1950-1960, the post-war period, which was first characterized by narrow-mindedness and Cold War anxiety. For many city children, the annual free train ticket is the way to light and air in the countryside. But here, too, the children must all participate in the daily toil on the farm, alternating with meager lessons in the village school. During the 50s, great changes take place. Financial aid and new goods arrive from the United States. One is influenced by the American way of life, the term "Teenager" arises, and they become the first generation of young people with money in their pockets. In the broadcast, "witnesses" take part, who tell what the film apparatus did not catch.

Clothes distribution, school meals and holiday camps become bright spots for many vulnerable children. Out in Europe, boots are being trampled and here children experience that they have to leave their country for reasons they do not understand.
