Description: Following the destruction caused by cyclones that ravaged regions in the south of India towards the end of 1977, this documentary focusses on the second phase of the international rescue operation co-ordinated by the League of Red Cross Societies [former name of the IFRC] in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. The Indian Red Cross organized 170 camps for more than a million people who were made homeless. Distribution of blankets, milk powder, rice, medicine, and cooking instruments. The relief operation then concentrated on the reconstruction of more solid houses. Communal shelters could be used as educational and medical centres when not needed in emergencies.

Description: The early years of Camp Hawthorne narrated by Sandy and Lorraine Sheldon. Music by Lorraine Sheldon. Lex Sheldon (Lorraine's husband and Sandy's (and Bill's) father) was director of Camp Hawthorne from 1950 to 1969 and a camper and counselor at the camp in the 1920's and 1930's. Lex attended Poly Prep where he was the captain of the football team and Dartmouth College.
