Interest in children's life and culture exploded, and children are given access to radio and television. Towards the end of the decade, disintegration, rising unemployment, divorces and anxiety about the future lurk. Folk music turns into hard rock and disco. Before you danced together - now you dance with yourself.

Good times get better, and during the decade many families can afford their own house with bathrooms and children's rooms, their own car and television - and perhaps a trip south. To afford it all, both father and mother have to work, and many children are left to fend for themselves as "key children". Rebellion lurks beneath the neat facades. The children will have a say in decision-making and a student council in the school. "Are they learning enough there", ask the worried parents who have to watch their children demonstrate in front of Christiansborg.
